MAGNESIUM – THE MOST IMPORTANT MINERAL!

Magnesium The Most Important Mineral

Very few people are aware of the enormous role Magnesium plays in our bodies. After oxygen, water, and basic food, Magnesium may be the most important element needed by our bodies—so vitally important, yet hardly known. Magnesium is a co-factor in activating over 350 different biochemical reactions including energy production, protein synthesis, bone formation, the creation of new cells, activation of B vitamins, function and relaxation of muscles, the functioning of the heart, kidneys, adrenals, and brain as well as the nervous system. Magnesium also slows bone turnover, the routine breakdown, and rebuilding of bone (Journal of Clinical Endocrinology)–important in protecting against bone loss and bone embrittlement. The research of Hans Nieper, M.D, shows that chocolate cravings reduce as the absorption of Magnesium improves the activity of white, granulocytic blood cells, and increases the production of immune-defensive substances and factors that activate specific antibodies.

Factors causing the depletion of the Magnesium in the body are mental stress, coffee, sugar, a diet high in sodium (especially ‘table salt’), alcohol, cola-type sodas, tobacco, high perspiration, most medical drugs, low thyroid, diabetes, chronic pain, diuretics, a high-carbohydrate diet, etc

Magnesium is even more important than Calcium, Potassium, or Sodium, as it regulates all three of these minerals. Any excess Magnesium is eliminated and so does not build up in the body. However, excess Calcium does build up in the body and needs Magnesium to be assimilated. Once Magnesium is deficient, dozens of processes are disturbed, and thus many minerals and nutrients cannot function, causing the body to go out of balance. When we get too low on oxygen, water, or food, the consequences are severe. Magnesium has not received the ‘press’ it deserves, and we often remain unaware of the implications of deficiency—which contributes to millions of dollars of needless health expense. It is not the amount of Magnesium you ingest that is the most important thing, but what gets utilized. Fibromyalgia Syndrome is now coming under study as a possible Magnesium/Iodine deficiency. Magnesium helps correct such deficiency problems as:

* Inability to sleep
* Low energy
* High blood pressure
* Headaches
* Heart difficulties* Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
* Body tension
* Muscle tension
* Irregular heartbeat
* Nervousness
* Weakening bones
* Needless worrying
* Bowel imbalances
* Organ calcification
* Accelerated Aging
* Backaches
* Tightening of Muscles
* Irritability, Fatigue
* Swollen, painful joints
* Chocolate craving
* Bone spurs
* Kidney stones
* Pre-Menstrual Symptoms
* Muscle Cramps

90 – 95% of our population is deficient, or below healthy levels, including many of those who are already using Magnesium! In recommending that 80% of our food be eaten raw, we are obtaining good Calcium from our diet. However, few common foods are a good source of Magnesium—mainly Almonds, Cashews, Brazil nuts, Baked beans, Molasses, and dark green leafy veggies. America has the highest rate of pasteurized milk consumption with the highest calcium supplement consumption, and yet has the highest rate of osteoporosis, calcium loss, and bone fragility! Why?

The amount of Magnesium required by the body is greater than most people think. For example, when too much Calcium is consumed for the amount of Magnesium being absorbed, the Calcium will pull Magnesium out of body parts to help it be assimilated, or the body may ‘store’ the unassimilated Calcium, and this creates other problems such as bone spurs. Excess Calcium in the body also results in Calcium deposits throughout various organs (calcification of organs and tissues). The joints are about 75% water, and if a person is chronically dehydrated, the body will draw moisture from the joints and then, when lacking Magnesium, will be able to store the unused Calcium in those ‘empty joint pockets’.

Secondly, most Magnesium capsules and tablets are not completely absorbed by the body. A major problem with Magnesium is the inability by the body to readily absorb it when it is not from a plant (as with Avena’s Minerals) or in an ionic form. It is not merely a question of ‘is it organic or inorganic’, but ‘does it get absorbed or not get absorbed’ or ‘how much of it stays within the body’ ( Creighton University Medical School, Omaha, NE ). The biologically active form of this mineral (known as ionized Magnesium) can transfer right into the cells, without the need of any body function other than absorption, and thus will show a lower blood level of Magnesium—taken orally there is no worry about intake. Liquid Ionic Magnesium handles the Calcium and helps the body to dissolve excess or stored Calcium gradually. It can be taken on its own without side effects or negatives, as the body utilizes Magnesium and Calcium through its ion channels.

Nobel Prize winners Edwin Neher and Bert Sackman, M.D, were able to prove in 1991 that ionic channels exist within human cells. They state that “An ion channel is like a tunnel running from the inside of a cell to the outside. Cells communicate with one another using the 20 to 40 ion channels that each cell has in its property” thus making it possible for intracellular components, such as Magnesium Liquid Ionic Ô to be utilized effectively. Robert Recker, M.D, further proved that Calcium and Magnesium are absorbed into the body via an ionized form.

Wm D Snively Jr, M.D, states in his book, The Sea Within, “We begin life as a jellyfish and end it as coral...We start life soft, moist and flexible; we end life hard, dry, and rigid.” Our soft tissue becomes partially calcified due to lack of Magnesium to facilitate Calcium absorption.

In his book, Chemistry and Biochemistry of Calcium, W G Robertson stresses the importance of the difference between ionic and non-ionic forms for health benefits. This difference is significant because our bodies recognize, utilize, and metabolize ionic forms. If the Magnesium is not in plant form or ionic form, the body tries to ionize it in the stomach–which involves proper gastric-acid levels for metabolizing and digesting—with insufficient success in changing it into an ionic form. Over 1,200 people in the study by Grossman and Kirsner (involving the Veterans Administration Centre, the UCLA Medical Centre CA, and the U of Chicago, IL), demonstrated that with age, levels of gastric acid in both men and women significantly reduce—many stomachs have a hard time digesting anything, let alone ‘stone or rock-type’ nutrients.

This ionization problem has been solved with Magnesium Liquid Ionic —the best possible product on the market concerning absorption and effectiveness. With this ionic form, you know the conversion process (metabolizing and digesting) to its ionic form has already been accomplished. The body does not need to go through extra steps to get this product into the ionic form that the body ultimately utilizes. Magnesium Liquid Ionic ™ does not need extra acid added to the formula; this ionized form is the key to absorption.
